Problem
New investors in India face high emotional and informational barriers when entering the world of stock and mutual fund investments. From lack of trust and financial literacy to overwhelming jargon and confusing interfaces, many users feel discouraged before even starting.
The challenge: How can we simplify this journey for first-time investors and earn their trust within seconds?
Solution
We created InvestIQ - a mobile app for mutual fund investing - designed with empathy, education, and ease.
The solution focuses on:
- ✨ Personalised onboarding (emotion check-in + personality quiz)
- 📚 Financial literacy tools (investment calculator, news, terminology)
- 🧠 Gamified UX and progress badges to boost engagement
- 🔓 Transparent statements + goal-based investing
As the UI Designer, I worked on the design system, high-fidelity screens, and polished the entire visual experience to maintain clarity, trust, and friendliness throughout the app.
Challenge
The biggest challenge was creating a customised and emotionally resonant experience in under 16 hours - one that wouldn't overwhelm the user but still had meaningful utility.
With no time for iteration or testing, we relied heavily on quick yet deep user research and careful UX prioritisation.
Summary
Runner-Up @ Lollypop's Designathon 2023 🏆
This 16-hour sprint taught me the power of focused collaboration and user-first thinking. Even in tight timelines, empathy + structure = great product outcomes.
InvestIQ is more than an app - it's a friendly step into finance for someone who's never invested before.
I'm grateful to have shaped the product's look and feel, and proud of the clarity we brought to such a complex domain.
I design for clarity, not decoration. Let's build something people can trust.
